Jesus said, “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). What a simple yet a profound statement! We live in a world where counterfeit realities have taken precedence over humble truths of life. Man is compelled to wear a façade before his brethren just so that he is not rejected as an outcast by them but accepted as their own. One is forced to believe what one is not while the real personality of that poor individual continue to deteriorate One is f Living a life dictated by pretense and compliance with the world becomes a cause of acute stress and suffocating bondage. Jesus understood the corrupt nature of the world all too well and thus preached the gospel of truth, which aims at liberating the spirit of his disciples from the lies of the world.
A man begins to give in to lies when the firm ground of his identity in Christ beneath his feet, begins to shake. It is unfortunate that many Christians today are failing to realize the importance of living in their identity in Christ. By conforming to the ways of this world, we render the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of no value. By letting the lies of the world rule us, we make our spirit subject to the moral law of this world.
Jesus said, “I am the truth, the way, the life, No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) and then again He says, (John10:10b) “… I came so that you may have life and life in abundance.”
The life that one seeks to live which is free of any kind of bondage and stress is only found in one’s identity in Christ. The security that we have in living a life accountable to Jesus indeed liberates us from the fear of man’s opinion and judgment. It rids one from the bondage of dependence on another mortal and opens the realm of endless hope for the trusting soul.
The truth of life of a follower of Christ is that He is more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus who strengthens him, that All Things are possible for him who believes, that all things work out for good of those love GOD and are called according to His Purpose, that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His special people consecrated to declare praises of him who called us out of darkness into His Marvelous light. Our truth is that with the death of Christ on the cross, our old sinful man was put to death once and, for all and that the same spirit that resurrected Jesus Christ from the dead lives in us, renewing us continually into the likeness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
These are the truths that we must live by and must completely shun away the fake standards of this fading world. By living in the eternal truth of Christ and our identity in Him, we can indeed experience the freedom which is at heart of God for us. We must seek our security in Jesus and not in this corrupted world. Our actions and thoughts should be a product of a life lived according to the standards of Christ and not according to the false idealistic notions of this world. Once Christ has taken precedence over the world in our lives, we will experience true freedom that everyone is looking for.
